The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineering Estimator to join our team. This is a hybrid/on-site role in Scunthorpe where you will be responsible for delivering high-level estimating support across civil engineering subcontract projects. You’ll be instrumental in preparing detailed cost estimates, taking off quantities from drawings, and working closely with the other in-house consultants to ensure accurate cost projections.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide estimating support for groundworks, civil engineering, and RC frame projects.
2. Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bids from first principles.
3. Analyze project designs and specifications, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
4. Collaborate with the other consultants and clients to ensure accuracy and feasibility in cost projections.
5. Offer expert advice on construction methods, materials, and technologies.
6. Ensure all estimates meet client requirements and project timelines.
About You:
Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in a senior estimating role, within a subcontracting environment.
Extensive background in pricing from first principles for civil engineering, groundworks, and RC frame projects.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry technologies.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred but not essential.
RICS chartership is a bonus.
Remuneration:
We offer a competitive salary based on experience starting at £70,000, along with additional benefits. Salary is negotiable for the right candidate.
