Lead Operator – Nights Team (Isleport, Somerset)
This role will be 4 nights on 4 nights off working 20:00 to 8:00.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate a commitment to Health & Safety by working in a safe manner, role‑modeling our safety behaviours, challenging unsafe practices, rectifying unsafe conditions and escalating to other team members when support is needed.
* Lead the active involvement of the team in all Health & Safety aspects of their work to support the ongoing improvement to safety practices.
* Escalate any food safety breach or quality issue and ensure any product below our standards is identified, held, and the issues are escalated, resolved and released.
* Understand, lead and maintain good manufacturing practices and company standards of hygiene, PPE, and dress code.
* Role‑model a "Clean as You Go" approach, leading workplace organisation and visual management standards with the team.
* Facilitate Short Interval Control Reviews, establishing actions and owners for ongoing improvements and coordinating tasks and resources to optimise the operation.
* Analyse and interpret asset performance to identify opportunities and initiate necessary support to drive improvements to performance and raw material yields.
* Actively involve in change‑over optimisation with the team, identifying opportunities for resource coordination that improve asset utilisation.
* Communicate and share performance data, ensuring team awareness of how their role contributes to the success of the shift, site and business.
* Maintain accurate and timely recording of downtime and raw material usage across the area in support of focused improvement initiatives.
* Undertake basic fault finding and rectification on equipment and support identification of root cause when escalating to the wider support team.
* Energise the team and demonstrate a consistently enthusiastic approach, taking action quickly and encouraging others to do the same.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Leadership of a team of up to 30 people.
* Stock control processes & inventory control.
* Knowledge of WMS and MS Office applications.
* Good communication skills at all levels.
* Able to work to deadlines under pressure.
* Knowledge of KPI delivery.
Desirable:
* MHE experience.
* IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
* First Aid at Work.
* Food safety qualification/experience.
