Overview
We are looking for an experienced electrical professional to play a key role in delivering reliable and safe electrical service across council homes and buildings in York. This important role within Building Services supports the electrical team in ensuring tenant homes are safe and well maintained.
Responsibilities
* Managing the day‑to‑day running of the electrical services team based at Hazel Court with work across the city.
* Supervising electricians and reviewing electrical certificates.
* Carrying out on‑site inspection, resolving technical issues and acting as the Qualifying Supervisor for NICEIC registration.
* Ensuring all electrical work meets the standards set out in BS 7671.
* Supporting apprentices and contributing to the development of skills within the team.
* Co‑ordinating electrical testing programmes, checking the quality of completed work and helping to plan electrical tasks across the city.
* Working with the electrical team leader, planners, surveyors, repairs teams, compliance colleagues and other business areas to ensure high standard completion.
* Supporting contractors on site, monitoring progress and maintaining good communication to keep jobs on track.
About You
* Qualified and experienced electrician.
* Strong technical knowledge.
* Confident to supervise others and comfortable making decisions on site.
* Excellent communication skills with tenants and colleagues.
* Ability to keep accurate records.
* Experience in electrical testing, inspection and compliance work is essential.
