We are currently looking for a talented Accountant to join our Aberdeen office as part of our accounting team. This is a permanent, full-time position. The individual will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and tax reporting for Piper Sandler's offices in Europe and the Middle East.
Responsibilities include:
* Serving as the primary point of contact for local accounting, tax, and payroll providers.
* Preparation of monthly management accounts.
* Collating data for the preparation of monthly local accounts in accordance with local legislation.
* Reviewing accounts prepared by local accountants and reconciling them to Piper Sandler's records.
* Preparing data for monthly, quarterly, and annual VAT returns, as well as French intrastat filings.
* Preparing and reviewing monthly payroll data, including arranging associated payments.
* Completing several legal entity balance sheet reconciliations.
* Coordinating the annual audit for France and Abu Dhabi, with support from the European CFO and local advisors.
* Preparing data for annual tax returns, with support from the Corporate Tax Director.
* Preparing the annual plan for each location.
* Preparing sales invoices for Abu Dhabi Investment Banking.
* Conducting weekly reviews of cash balances, forecasting payments, and ensuring appropriate funding is in place to meet payment and regulatory requirements.
* Assisting with regulatory compliance reporting as required.
* Performing other ad hoc tasks as and when required.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of MS Office, particularly a good working knowledge of Excel.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong bookkeeping skills, including the ability to prepare journals unassisted.
* Sound financial knowledge and background/experience, potentially working towards a qualification.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a small team.
* Ability to use initiative.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
* Knowledge of foreign currency transactions or experience with international operations would be an advantage but is not essential; training will be provided.
* Knowledge of French accounting requirements would be an advantage but is not essential; training will be provided.
