OCU are looking for a talented CAD technician to join our Power team based in Slough. As a CAD Technician, you will be responsible for creating technical drawings, models, and schematics using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. Working closely with engineers and designers, you will support the development of products, components, or systems by producing accurate and detailed drawings that meet project requirements and industry standards. The skills and experience you will need: Create 2D and 3D technical drawings, models, and layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, ArcGIS) based on engineering specifications and design requirements. Generate detailed drawings, plans, land title plans, and schematics for products, parts, assemblies, or architectural structures, incorporating dimensions, annotations, and symbols as necessary. Follow drafting standards, conventions, and best practices to ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy in design documentation. Review and revise existing drawings, models, and documentation as directed by engineers or project managers, incorporating design changes, corrections, or updates. Maintain version control and documentation of revisions, ensuring that all changes are accurately recorded and communicated to stakeholders. Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate design activities, resolve technical issues, and ensure project milestones are met. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and facilitate the exchange of information. Perform quality checks and verifications on drawings and models to ensure compliance with design standards, regulations, and client specifications. Conduct reviews and validations of design documentation, identifying errors, discrepancies, or inconsistencies and taking corrective actions as needed. Adhere to established procedures and protocols for document control, file management, and data security. Provide technical support and assistance to engineers, designers, and project teams throughout the design and development process. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate design concepts, progress updates, and project outcomes. Maintain organised records of design files, drawings, and project documentation for future reference and archival purposes. What you will need to be successful: Diploma or degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or equivalent. Proficiency in ArcGIS preferable. Strong drafting skills and attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate and precise technical drawings. Knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to adapt to changing project requirements. Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to the field of design and engineering. Experience in a similar role or industry is advantageous but not essential.
