Finance Manager

The Finance Manager for Corporate and R&D will provide professional financial advice to Directors, Deputy Directors and staff within the department, operating across both HUTH and NLAG. The role supports the finance team, care groups, and services to understand the financial position and help deliver high‑standard care sustainably.
Key Responsibilities
* Line manage the Deputy Finance Managers/R&D Analysts within the Corporate and R&D function.
* Produce and present detailed, accurate information in various formats to finance and non‑finance staff, generating discussion to improve financial or business management, and assist with activity and unit costing analysis.
* Work with executives, management teams, and care group teams to advise and support reviews of the cost savings program, evaluate outcomes, monitor progress, and alert to potential risks of non‑achievement.
* Provide expert advice on the interpretation of financial information, following accounting principles, investigating complex enquiries, analysing invoices, to ensure a true and fair view of the financial position.
* Maintain, improve, and analyse risks of current accounting systems and processes, ensuring adherence, including trading account processes and pass‑through reconciliations.
* Provide professional financial advice across specialist areas of the organisation, using financial position to help deliver sustainable, high‑standard care.
Education and Qualifications
* CCAB qualified or finalised (evidence of experience and working towards this level), with a CPD portfolio and experience at ward or equivalent level.
* Fully qualified CCAB with comprehensive equivalent CPD portfolio.
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Experience managing large, complex budgets in a busy environment.
* Ability to present written and verbal finance information to finance and non‑finance colleagues.
* Analytical skill handling multiple large and complex data sources; ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively.
* Knowledge of NHS finance regime, budget setting, business planning, and NHS budgeting.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
* Strong verbal and written communication; able to work independently and collaboratively within a team; demonstrates confidentiality.
* Experience presenting finance information to finance and non‑finance colleagues.
