The post holder will organise and manage a caseload for a defined group of patients / service users, providing specialist nursing support, advice and education and care to that specific of cardiology patients. They will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards within the defined service group.
Main duties of the job
Support the Lead Nurse in leading and facilitating groups from the MDT, Primary and Secondary Care and Ambulance Trusts to develop an ICP for suspected cardiac chest pain, which will ensure gold standard care is delivered according to current evidenceBe instrumental in introducing the ICP into everyday working practice across the Trust and monitor its effectiveness by regular audit and review.Communicate own ideas of service needs to the senior sister and assist her to make the necessary changesAssist in implementing and improving the clinical database system used and act as a role model to others.Partake in educating staff about the importance of accurate and timely data entry ensuring data protection laws are adhered to and confidentiality maintained.Educate staff about the complexities of data entry and ensure understanding of the MINAP core data set.Assist the Lead Nurse to (and in her absence) obtain, decode and analyse thrombolysis data from the clinical database and disseminate information to appropriate sources Make recommendations according to data reported onAttend MINAP user group meetings on behalf of Lead Nurse and communicate difficulties with the dataset to the organisationAssist the lead nurse to scrutinize data and ensure it matches with the National database.Communicate with Strategic Health Authority and Trust performance management team to explain data provided and promote understanding in the absence of the Lead Nurse

* Registered Nurse
* Post registration qualification in cardiology or equivalent experience
* Evidence and competency in teaching and assessing
* ILS / ALS certificate
* Extensive clinical experience
* Sound knowledge of issues affecting the NHS
* Recent experience of managing and caring for cardiac patients
