£30,000 - £32,000 a year

Offer description

Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), Natural Resources Wales, Welsh Government, Welsh Government’s Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme, Arts Council Wales and Esmee Fairbairn, Natur am Byth unites nine environmental charities to deliver the country’s largest natural heritage and outreach programme to save species from extinction and reconnect people to nature. Never before has a partnership of so many voluntary organisations and the Welsh statutory environment body worked together in this way to tackle the nature emergency. The 10 ‘core’ partners are Amphibian & Reptile Conservation; Bat Conservation Trust; Buglife; Bumblebee Conservation Trust; Butterfly Conservation; Plantlife; Marine Conservation Society; Natural Resources Wales; RSPB Cymru; Vincent Wildlife Trust. Many other organisations, communities and landowners are working with the project to enable plans for conservation and engagement activity across Wales. We are seeking a project officer to deliver the last two years of the Swansea Bay’s Stars of the Night project, a component of Natur Am Byth! The project is based in the Swansea Bay area, delivering bat survey, monitoring work and lighting guidance with a particular focus on lesser horseshoe bats. You will coordinate and work closely with volunteer surveyors, lead training and deliver engagement events for local communities. You will use survey data to guide and advice local authorities to reduce the impact of lighting, and improve connectivity for lesser horseshoe bats in the Swansea Bay region. The post will work closely with partners delivering the Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities project, delivering action for a range of species across the Swansea Bay area. Why work for us? We are a friendly and supportive workplace with an inspiring environmental mission. As a hybrid working organisation, we are flexible about home-working, we offer a 4% employer pension contribution, an Employee Assistance Programme, and time for learning, development and volunteering. BCT is a welcoming and inclusive organisation. We believe our work will be stronger with greater diversity and welcome applications from those who bring difference. We are committed to building a working environment in which all individuals are free from discrimination and in which opportunities are equal to all. How to Apply Please view the job description on our website for further details about the role, and submit a completed application form with optional equal opportunities form.
