All about the Role
Join Peterborough City Council's Adult Social Care team as a Senior Social Worker specialising in safeguarding. This pivotal role is designed for experienced professionals who are passionate about proactive, preventative, and personalised social work. You'll be the first point of contact for adult safeguarding concerns, managing complex cases, allocating work based on risk assessments, and deputising for the Team Manager when needed.
You'll lead safeguarding enquiries, oversee multi-agency risk management meetings (MARMs), and contribute to the development of best practice guidance. Your responsibilities will include supervising staff, and representing the council in strategic partnerships. You'll also play a key role in service development, quality assurance, and professional leadership.

All about our Team
The Safeguarding Team at Peterborough City Council plays a pivotal role in protecting vulnerable adults by responding to safeguarding concerns, conducting risk triage, and completing safeguarding enquiries where necessary. The team ensures timely and appropriate action to uphold the safety and wellbeing of individuals at risk and making safeguarding personal is a theme through all of our interventions.
The team structure includes a Team Manager, one senior social worker, four x social workers, one x safeguarding co-ordinator.
All about You
Professional Qualifications: A recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England
Experience: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Social Worker with a proven track record in safeguarding and substantial line management responsibilities, ready to lead with expertise and drive positive outcomesPrior experience working with adults, particularly in safeguarding.
Knowledge Base:
Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Ability to apply a Strengths-Based Approach to practice.
Competence in making risk-assessed decisions to promote safety and wellbeing
Personal Attributes:
Organised, compassionate, and responsive to service users' needs.
Able to travel independently between locations if required
