From 1 December 2025, our updated Pay and Reward package will take effect, introducing a new approach to recognising and rewarding roles across the Council. The salary for this role will be adjusted to a pay range of £38,220 – £46,142 (pro‑rata for part‑time).

Role Purpose

BCP Council is committed to and has made significant investment in building up its Community Safety capacity to support the BCP Community Safety Partnership with an ambitious strategy and action plan to realise our vision ‘to make Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole a safer and healthier place where communities and businesses thrive and where residents and visitors feel safe and welcomed’.


Main Responsibilities

We are recruiting for a Community Safety Officer to support the Council’s Community Safety Team and the Community Safety Partnership with delivery of strategies and plans through participation within multi‑agency groups and meetings, engagement with Council services, and regional, national and local agencies.

The role will undertake a range of Community Safety projects, support current local initiatives and be a core contributor to new and developing initiatives working closely with partners such as Dorset Police.

You will support the Community Safety Manager and Community Safety Team Leader across a range of work, including serious violent crime, preventing violent extremism, exploitation and other emerging issues.

You will engage with a wide range of people and services. While working as part of a fast‑paced team with varied workstreams, you will also have contact with senior officers, elected members of the Council and build and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.


The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate must have great interpersonal skills, be flexible, and be familiar with the Microsoft suite including MS Teams, Excel and Outlook.

You will have experience arranging meetings, taking minutes and actions, delivering presentations and independently prioritising your workload.

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative team player who enjoys supporting others to work alongside us in strategic project work across all aspects of Community Safety.

Applicants will be working on a hybrid basis with flexible hours. The option is available to work from BCP Civic Centre, where ‘hot desking’ operates.

Applicants should note that they may be required to work from the Civic Centre or other locations in the relevant Council area on occasions and when required.

You will be degree educated or equivalent and have three years relevant experience regarding some of the subject matters mentioned.

We will be shortlisting on 17th November 2025 with interviews in Bournemouth for successful candidates to follow on Tuesday 2nd December 2025.
