Assistant Manager - Audit, Accounting & Advisory

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced audit professional to join the Audit, Accounting & Advisory team as an Assistant Manager. This role is ideal for someone with existing client and team management responsibilities, or significant audit experience at Supervisor level, looking to take the next step in their career.
* Approximately 75% of the role will focus on statutory audits, with the remainder spent overseeing year‑end accounts preparation and advisory projects
* Responsible for managing client engagements, leading teams, and ensuring high‑quality delivery of audit and accounting assignments
* Work closely with directors, partners, and colleagues across the firm to build strong client relationships
* Support junior staff development, identify improvements to quality and efficiency, and contribute to overall departmental operations
* Commercial responsibilities include managing budgets, client invoicing, and ensuring timely collection of fees
* Work will take place at client premises across Lancashire and North Manchester, in the office, and occasionally from home under the firm’s flexible working policy
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver audit and accounts assignments from planning to completion
* Review and prepare financial statements in accordance with FRS102 / FRS102-1A
* Provide technical accounting guidance and support to clients and the team
* Manage and mentor junior team members, identifying training needs and providing development support
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring excellent service
* Contribute to process improvements, quality assurance, and operational efficiency
* Oversee budgets, client invoicing, and the collection of fees
What we're looking for
* ACA / ACCA qualified
* Significant experience within accountancy practice (audit or mixed audit/accounts)
* Strong technical knowledge and ability to manage multiple client engagements
* Proven experience supervising and mentoring staff
* Commercially aware, organised, and able to manage client and team expectations
* Ambitious and motivated to progress towards Manager and beyond
