Overview
As a Tanker Driver, you will be responsible for driving and operating Bio-solids tankers and ancillary equipment to facilitate removal of Bio-solids from wastewater treatment works and delivery to reception centres, while working in a safe manner at all times.
Responsibilities
* Work in a safe manner at all times.
* Drive and operate Bio-solids tankers and ancillary equipment to facilitate removal of Bio-solids from wastewater treatment works and delivery to reception centres.
* Work closely with the Bio-solids Schedulers and Supervisors to ensure collections are undertaken when required and report any exceptions in a timely manner.
* Carry out routine daily checks on tankers to comply with Road Traffic Act requirements and to maintain compliance with Welsh Water Operators Licence.
* Carry out daily and weekly checks to ensure legal roadworthiness; accurately record driving hours.
* Accurately report and record defects, record nil defects, and action defects immediately.
* Record quantities, types and destinations of Bio-solids transported to comply with relevant legislation and IMS procedure.
* Shift pattern: 12-hour, 4 on / 4 off.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Understand the importance of being a member of a high performing team.
* Possess a HGV Class 1 or 2 driving licence.
* Able to take responsibility for own actions whilst working in the field, following procedures and guidelines.
* Knowledge of IT systems such as Word, Excel and Outlook; ability to use PDA and other handheld devices.
* Ability to travel as the job requires and have a geographical appreciation of the operating area.
* Able to work to deadlines without compromising quality.
* Adaptable to changing priorities.
* The ability to develop positive working relationships and to be seen as a credible representative of the business.
