Hours and Location
Location: Banbury site
Hours: 3.5 days per week on a 3 on 2 off shift (alternate days/nights) 42 hours per week
What you’ll do
* Optimise machinery output and product quality; minimise plant downtime through preventative maintenance and quick, effective breakdown responses in designated areas of the factory
* Maintain a safe and healthy environment and promote good engineering practice
* Lead teams within an area or zone; deputise for Engineering Shift Manager when required
* Ensure maintenance is carried out in line with schedules and take effective corrective actions
* Respond to mechanical, electrical and PLC breakdowns; identify root causes and suggest improvements to prevent recurrence
* Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer; collaborate with operations to minimise disruption
* Follow good engineering standards and hygiene practices; comply with health and safety guidelines
* Mentor Level 1 to 3 Maintenance Engineers and Apprentices
* Timely reporting of Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Issues
* Escalate downtime appropriately and minimise downtime with good engineering practices
* Demonstrate problem solving for mechanical, electrical and control issues; identify root causes and impending issues
* Raise stock and non-stock requests; prepare Engineering Shift Reports when deputising
* Contractor management
What you’ll need to be successful
* Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering
* HNC, HND or Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
* Electrical & Control Engineering bias; understanding and knowledge of PLC programming
* Desirable refrigeration experience
* 6+ years of engineering experience
* Desirable welding / fabrication experience
* Familiarity with process machinery or equivalent equipment and ability to fault find
* Proficient in maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing systems
* Mechanical fitting skills
* Desirable IEE 17th or 18th edition
* Good leadership qualities and ability to motivate others and make effective timely decisions
* Ability to multi-task in a timeline-driven environment
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Self-motivated; able to work individually or as part of a team
* Desirable food manufacture experience
