Overview

Black Country Women's Aid (BCWA) is an established charity working across the Black Country and wider West Midlands, providing accommodation and community support services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking. Services include advocacy, civil remedies, support in court, individual and group support and access to a range of therapeutic interventions. All services are client and needs-led.

The team: Advice and Guidance Team. BCWA is strengthening its first contact service to ensure that every victim who contacts the support centre gets immediate help and support to make decisions to break free from their abuse. The service will receive referrals from individuals and agencies, assess immediate needs, provide safety advice, and work with other agencies. The integrated approach provides effective, holistic support for survivors of abuse using a trauma-informed approach.

Job Role

Job Title: Senior Information, Advice and Guidance Advisor/Caseholder
Position: 1 full-time position (37.5 hours, Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm) based at Head Office, Sandwell
Salary: £29,267 - £33,281.98
Closing date: 22 September 2025
Interviews: All interviews will be held in person


Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for delivering an effective trauma-informed approach to first contact, care and support for clients who are victims/survivors of abuse. The postholder will:

* Provide immediate high-quality information, advice and guidance to victims of domestic abuse, offering Tier 1 support (defined as no more than 5 days).
* Understand current/historic situations, conduct risk assessment, consider victim impact, and determine next steps.
* Lead in more complex circumstances, manage webchat and other communications, and develop resources for team use and for victims.
* Coordinate partner liaison in responding to victims and work toward set targets for victim outcomes.
* Maintain timely responses to all stakeholders with excellent interpersonal skills, IT confidence, and organised administration.
* Support a smooth first contact relationship with BCWA and contribute to ongoing professional development within the organisation.


Requirements and Qualities

We are looking for a dedicated, self-driven individual who can manage a caseload, provide support to victims/survivors in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate empathy and safeguarding knowledge. The role offers opportunities for continued professional development within the organisation.
