Dr Jo Gee Psychotherapy is a private clinic based in Guildford, Surrey providing evidence‑based psychotherapy, psychological services, and psychiatry both face-to-face and online.
The clinic offers modalities including CBT, DBT, CFT, EMDR, DBR, and supports people with conditions such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders (BPD / EUPD), OCD, perinatal issues and more.
The clinic operates from 3 Saxton Parklands, Guildford GU2 9JX and has core hours Monday–Friday, 9am to 9pm for client services.
As a Voluntary Assistant Psychologist, you will be part of a dynamic, clinically oriented team led by Dr Jo Gee (UKCP, MUPCA, MBACP) with over 17 years' experience, who brings a specialist interest in emotional difficulties and personality disorders.
Role Overview & Responsibilities
As part of our team, you will support clinical and service delivery functions. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Shadowing qualified therapists, psychologists, and clinicians in their client-facing work
* Attending and contributing to Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings
* Assisting with audits, service evaluations, and research projects
* Chaperoning clients, greeting and orienting them on arrival
* Helping with administrative, organisational, and documentation tasks
* Supporting service development initiatives (e.g. new pathways, quality improvement)
* Occasional client support (within ethical and supervision boundaries)
* Other duties as agreed within professional supervision
* Attending supervision and support under our team, including psychologists
You will gain exposure to a wide range of therapeutic work, modalities, and clinical operations in a private mental health setting.
Time Commitment & Working Pattern
* 10 hours per week, typically spread over 2 days (flexible schedule to be agreed)
* Hybrid model: some tasks and shadowing may be on-site in Guildford, others may occur online (depending on the task and clinician)
* Some evenings may be required depending on clinical timetabling
* Flexible hours and working is all possible
Who We're Looking For
You'll ideally have:
* A degree (or about to complete) in Psychology or a closely related field
* A strong interest in pursuing a career in clinical, counselling or health psychology
* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
* Professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
* Eagerness to learn, engage with research, audits and service development
* Some prior exposure to mental health settings or internships is a plus (but not essential)
