Maintenance Operative - Birmingham
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm

This customer-facing role involves maintaining Vita Student’s high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities include:
* Responding promptly to maintenance requests from students and staff, addressing issues with plumbing, electrical systems, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
* Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on fire alarm and firefighting systems.
* Understanding plant room functions, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing central systems.
* Conducting regular inspections to identify potential issues and performing scheduled maintenance (PPM).
* Carrying out general repairs such as fixing leaks, broken fixtures, malfunctioning appliances, and wall repairs.
* Performing basic carpentry and painting tasks, including replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch-up painting.
* Managing stock levels of maintenance supplies and parts.
* Adhering to safety regulations and procedures during maintenance tasks.
* Maintaining outdoor areas, including grass cutting and hedge trimming.
* Collaborating with other departments like housekeeping, front desk, and management to coordinate maintenance and guest requests.
Ideal candidate profile:
Experience:
* Experience in fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance.
* Familiarity with plant room operations.
* Skills across plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, and general equipment maintenance.
* Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
* Knowledge of safety compliance regulations.
* Stock management experience is advantageous.
* Experience in outdoor ground maintenance.
* IT literacy.
Personal qualities:
