An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position for x2 experienced Registered Nurses in our dynamic Integrated Acute Assessment Unit (IAAU).

Our medical wards across our three hospital sites (Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole) span a wide range of specialties – caring for patients in over 470 beds, medical nursing offers something for everyone. Whether your passion is in cardiology, oncology, respiratory, or our acute assessment areas, we are confident you will thrive in our supportive and forward-thinking teams. Naturally, acute medicine is a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients in our wards with most being admitted as acute emergencies, meaning the nursing interventions you deliver will truly make the difference to our patients and their loved ones.

Main duties of the job

IAAU admits and treats patients from a variety of specialties including Medical, Surgical, Orthopaedic, and Urology. This is a 26 bedded trolley area that takes patients from the ED and GP that require assessment from a specialty.

The unit is fast-paced, well-led and organised, making it a great place to learn. Our established nurses are experienced mentors who are supportive, friendly and possess a wide range of transferable extended skills. Also, as the Assessment Unit works hand in hand with the Same Day Emergency Care you will also have the chance to rotate across to them. We work cohesively and there is no “I” in OUR team – we work alongside each other and together. Therefore we encourage both newly qualified and experienced nurses in applying to join our team.

Successful candidates will be well-supported, and a bespoke training package will be tailored to suit individual learning needs. You will acquire a broad range of extended skills to compliment your passion for nursing including but not limited to venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, NG placement and management, complex wound care and much more. You will have access to a wealth of knowledge to help you develop your nursing career – ranging from consultants, specialty doctors and specialist nurses. We want to invest in YOU. Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Registered Nurse (Level 1) – in appropriate branch
2. Evidence of post registration development
3. Minimal of 6 months experience in a registered nurse position

Desirable criteria

4. Diploma in Nursing
5. Experience of being in charge of a shift

6. Up to date in mandatory training
7. Sound communication skills
