The University of Exeter alongside Devon Partnership Trust seek to recruit a Clinical Professor in Biological Psychiatry as our newly created John Slate Chair in Psychiatry. This is a strategically important position for the Department and Medical School as we seek to expand capacity in translational mental health and neuroscience, strengthen clinical links with local NHS trusts across the South-West peninsula and build on our international reputation in mental health, neuroscience and genomics research. We are particularly interested in psychiatrists working in the area of severe mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia, psychosis, major depression, child and adolescent mental health) who can work alongside our world-leading scientists working in basic neuroscience, cell biology, neurogenomics and data science. The successful applicant will work closely with the NIHR-funded Exeter Biomedical Research Centre to build our capacity in translational psychiatry.
We are looking for a leading international figure with the ability to attract world-class academics to their research groups. Applicants will be innovative researchers with a top-flight track record of research funding and international quality publications.
As a key strategic appointment, we offer a highly competitive package, supported by a significant start-up fund, to ensure that you can create a transformative translational clinical research programme.
