🚨 Quantity Surveyor – Rail Infrastructure (Manchester)
We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join a busy rail infrastructure team in Manchester, working on one of several high-profile projects currently being delivered in the region.
This role is suited to someone with solid contractor-side experience who’s comfortable managing costs, change, and commercial reporting across complex engineering projects, while acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:
1. Providing pre- and post-contract commercial support across assigned projects
2. Managing commercial activities across work packages including design, signalling installation, testing & commissioning, civils, telecoms, electrification, power and permanent way
3. Supporting project change control and working closely with delivery teams
4. Liaising with work package managers to gather progress and cost information
5. Managing budgets, forecasts and cost control for labour, materials, plant and subcontractors
6. Preparing internal and external commercial reports
7. Building strong working relationships with finance, engineering, project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives
8. Maintaining clear, auditable commercial records in line with contractual requirements
What we’re looking for:
9. Contractor-side experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Contract Administrator
10. Background in rail, construction, engineering or similar regulated industries
11. HND or Degree qualified, ideally working towards (or holding) RICS or CICES
12. Around 5 years’ experience in a project-based environment
13. Confident managing direct labour, materials, plant and subcontract costs
14. Strong skills in forecasting, change/variation assessment and cost reporting
15. Good commercial awareness with solid contractual knowledge
16. Comfortable working with limited supervision and under time or cost pressure
17. Confident communicator, able to work with stakeholders at all levels
18. Proficient with Microsoft Office and producing high-quality documentation
