Consultant Spinal Surgeon - Specialising in Spine Deformity. UHNM is looking to recruit a full time Consultant Spinal Surgeon with a sub-specialty interest in spine deformity (adult and paediatric).
The post holder will provide a comprehensive complex and non-complex spine surgical service to UHNM in conjunction with consultant colleagues. The successful applicant should have dedicated training in spine surgery and be able to perform at consultant level in both complex and non-complex spine surgery. The role involves work across both Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital sites.
Main duties
* Provide leadership and skill in primary and revision spinal deformity surgery.
* Provide specialist services in management of spinal trauma and assist in management of major trauma patients.
* Manage and be responsible for continuing care of patients with spinal problems in partnership with current spinal surgeons.
* Attend Regional Spine Network meetings as directed by the RSN lead.
* Actively engage with the British Spine Registry.
* Attend weekly MDT meetings.
* Participate in a 1:10 on call rota.
About Us
UHNM is a large acute teaching hospital which is a centre of excellence, a regional cancer centre and major trauma centre. The Spine Surgery department spans orthopaedic and neurosurgical specialities, exposing the full range of spine surgery including deformity, intradural surgery, trauma, reconstructive and decompressive surgery. UHNM is a designated cancer centre and recognized children\'s hospital. The spine surgery department works in close conjunction with these services and has academic links to Keele and Staffordshire universities.

* Full GMC Registration
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview, CESR or European Community Rights

* An appropriate higher surgical qualification
Clinical Experience
Essential
* Extensive experience in managing complex spine trauma as part of a major trauma service
* Evidence of completion of approved fellowship training in the appropriate sub specialty
* Candidates must have experience in the management of complex elective spinal surgery
* ATLS/ European Trauma/ or equivalent Trauma Course in last four years

* Evidence of managing independent operating lists / Previous experience at Consultant or Fellow level
