About the role We are seeking a dynamic Principal Engineer to lead and innovate within our high‑performing Highway Maintenance and Drainage Team. The role involves being the key technical lead on Council’s Street Lighting and Electrical Asset Stock, coordinating both operational and strategic responsibilities and acting as a prominent ambassador for Bath & North East Somerset at local, regional and national levels.

* Experience: Substantial experience in leading and managing a highways and technical function within the public sector and wider management ability.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of the national policy context and regulatory environment.
* Skills: Excellent resource management, problem‑solving abilities and a commitment to integrity, transparency and accountability.
* Innovation: Ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.
