The Role
The school are seeking a highly dedicated Deputy Housemaster/Deputy Housemistress to join the boarding team from August 2026. These roles are fundamental in ensuring the boarding houses and wider school operate smoothly and safely. The houseparent will help to maintain the school's high standards of welfare, discipline, and pastoral care.
This is a non-teaching role, ideal for individuals passionate about working closely with young people in a structured, supportive boarding setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Housemaster/Housemistress in the daily running of a boarding house.
* Provide high-quality pastoral care to pupils aged 10-18, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and personal development.
* Supervise morning, daytime, and evening routines, including weekend duties on a rota basis.
* Assist in managing student behaviour, promoting responsibility, respect, and independence.
* Liaise with parents, staff, and the wider pastoral team to support each pupil's individual needs.
* Uphold the ethos and values of the school at all times
* Provide support during emergency situations and manage safeguarding concerns appropriately.
Requirements
* Experience working with young people in a pastoral, residential, military, or care environment (boarding experience desirable but not essential).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
* High levels of professionalism, reliability, and emotional resilience.
* Ability to work flexibly across morning, daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
* A calm, caring, and structured approach suited to a disciplined environment.
