Field Service Engineer (Gas Generators)

£45,000 - £50,000 + Training + Overtime + Pension
Are you a mechanically minded Engineer or Technician with an interest in engines and electrical systems, looking for a varied field-based role within a growing and supportive company, offering full training, career progression, and excellent benefits?
On offer is the opportunity to work across multiple gas-powered generator sites (peaking plants) in the Doncaster area, becoming a key part of a team maintaining and repairing critical power generation equipment. This company is known for its hands-on approach, investment in training, and commitment to developing engineers within the industry.
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, diagnosing faults, and repairing gas generators and associated systems. You will work with engines, alternators, and control panels, using schematics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues and ensure optimal performance across multiple sites.
This role would suit an Engineer, Mechanic, or Technician with experience in engines or electrical systems, who is eager to learn and develop within the power generation industry.
The Role
* Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on gas generators
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and fuel system faults
* Repair and replace components including engines, alternators, and control systems
* Interpret schematics and wiring diagrams for fault finding
* Maintain accurate service records and reports
* Travel between multiple generator sites (field-based role)
* Doncaster area
The Person
* Engineer / Mechanic / Technician background
* Basic knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems
* Eager to learn (full training provided)
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
