We are currently recruiting a qualified PWP to work in the county, as part of an exciting expansion that places quality patient care and staff wellbeing at the heart of it. You will be joining a friendly and enthusiastic team striving towards gold‑standard ways of working.
Applicants must have completed PWP training from an accredited Low Intensity course, have experience working in the stepped‑care model delivering Low Intensity Psychological Interventions to patients experiencing mild to moderate common mental health difficulties, and have PWP registration.
We are committed to supporting you reach your full potential by providing CPD opportunities and you will receive Clinical Case Management Supervision, Clinical Skills Supervision, Reflective Practice Supervision and regular Line Management.
Please note that this is a hybrid remote role and the successful candidate is expected to work in‑person within West Cornwall a few days each week.
This post is open to newly qualified professionals and students due to complete their qualification during this calendar year. Successful applicants may receive a conditional offer subject to completion of training.
Main duties of the job
As a PWP you play an integral part in the everyday workings of the service, from promotional work to assessing patients to providing clinical evidence‑based interventions that help service users make lasting changes in managing their mental health.
Post holders will be completing clinical contacts 1:1 face‑to‑face, over telephone, video consultation, group courses (remotely and in person) and CBT. Where needed, they will hold discussions with step 3 and/or step 4 clinicians to ensure step‑ups and safe onward referrals are completed and that patient dignity and confidentiality is maintained at all times. There will also be opportunities for community outreach work to promote the work to other services, educational settings and career events.
Post holders will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities.
Post holders will be required to work any time between 8am and 8pm on weekdays as required by the service, and also to participate in evening clinics offered between 5pm and 8pm.
Alongside LI and HI CBT, the service offers Counselling for Depression, Couples Therapy for Depression, Mindfulness‑based CBT, IPT and EMDR. We are currently establishing good links with Primary Care Networks and Secondary Care Mental Health Teams.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience
* Degree in IAPT Low Intensity Psychological Therapies Practice (PWP Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner)
* Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
* Experience of working in Primary Care Services
Skills and Aptitude
* Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
* Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
