The Role
We’re looking for a passionate and pragmatic Engineering Manager to help shape the future of our software development at Wireless Logic. As part of our engineering leadership, you’ll be responsible for leading a group of talented engineers working within one or more empowered product squads. Your focus will be on creating an environment where great engineering thrives by fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture and ensuring we deliver scalable, secure, and customer-centric software solutions.
Reporting to our Head of Engineering, our Platform Engineering Manager will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to drive both business outcomes and technical excellence. Your Software Engineering Manager role is a blend of people leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and engineering best practices. We need someone who can balance strategic alignment with hands-on support, ensuring our teams are productive, growing, and building products that matter.
What You’ll Do
* Line manage a team of 6 –10 engineers, supporting their development through regular 1:1s, feedback, coaching, and performance reviews.
* Drive a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and growth within engineering teams.
* Drive alignment between engineering execution and company strategy by translating product goals into clear, actionable engineering plans.
* Provide engineering leadership that balances rapid delivery with long-term technical sustainability, guiding architectural decisions in collaboration with tech leads.
Cross Functional Leadership
* Partner with Product and Design leaders to shape roadmaps, define priorities, and make trade-offs that best serve the customer and business.
* Champion pragmatic Agile/Lean practices that support autonomy and continuous delivery, while maintaining alignment and visibility across squads.
Raise the Bar
* Maintain high standards for software quality, security, reliability and scalability through clear practices, metrics, and reviews.
* Champion engineering metrics (like DORA, DevEx, SPACE) to inform decisions and drive improvement across the org.
* Ensure teams are resourced with the right skills and structure to meet current and future product needs.
* Influence hiring practices, retention strategies, and internal mobility to build a world-class engineering organisation.
* Support experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement in engineering workflows and practices.
* Facilitate knowledge sharing and cross-team collaboration to increase organisational learning and efficiency.
The Secret Sauce (Key Experience & Skills):
* Solid experience in modern software development (e.g., cloud-native, microservices, CI/CD, automated testing, observability).
* Able to dive into technical conversations, challenge assumptions, and guide sound decisions.
* Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop engineers at all levels.
* Experienced in running performance management, driving engagement and supporting career development.
* Track record of building and guiding high-performing Platform Engineering teams.
* Skilled in using delivery and engineering metrics (e.g., DORA, flow metrics) to assess and improve team performance.
Architectural Thinking
* Knowledge of distributed systems design (e.g., Domain-Driven Design), scalable architectures, and DevSecOps principles.
* Committed to building inclusive, diverse teams. You lead with empathy and help others grow and thrive.
What Will Make You Shine at Wireless Logic (Behaviours & Culture):
* Collaborative by default – You bring teams together and foster trust.
* Growth mindset – Always learning, always improving, and helping others do the same.
* Low ego, high impact – You care about the outcome, not the credit.
* Resilient and calm – You stay cool when things get tough, and help others do the same.
* Respectfully challenging – You speak up, ask tough questions, and challenge the status quo with care.
* Inclusive leadership – You value diverse perspectives and ensure everyone feels heard and supported.
Your Objectives for the Year
* Grow high-performing teams – Help your engineers thrive through coaching, feedback and support, ensuring delivery and engagement stay high.
* Improve engineering effectiveness – Lead initiatives to enhance developer productivity, reliability, and system performance across teams.
* Support cross-team collaboration – Play a key role in aligning technical and product efforts, driving consistency and shared learning across squads.
