Background:
RAF Lakenheath is the largest U.S. Air Force-operated base in England and the home of the 48th Fighter Wing. The base consists of approximately 5,500 active-duty military members, 2,700 British, Icelandic and U.S. civilians. The successful candidate for this position will support the Medical Referral and Appointing Services at RAF Lakenheath, England. The appointing services will be centralized at the 48th Medical Group (MDG) at RAF Lakenheath but will include assisting patients in scheduling appointments for the 501st Combat Support Wing (CSW) Medical squadrons located at RAF Alconbury and RAF Croughton.

Duties & Responsibilities
8. This position provides member assistance by scheduling various appointments requested, transferring calls appropriately, composing messages, and providing general information for Appointments.
9. Answer a high volume of telephone calls directed by Automated Call Distribution (ACD) system.
10. Meet or exceed establish metrics of call handle time without compromise to customer service standards
11. Determine patient eligibility for services and schedules medical appointments for referred care.
12. Utilize existing systems to identify appointment availability, schedule, cancel, and reschedule appointments for 48 MDG and 501 CSW, following local directives, established protocols, Booking Protocols, and the MTF Business Rules using the appropriate Access to Care (ATC) guidelines
13. Generate and receive messages using established systems in compliance with policies.
14. Obtain updates and files medical records using electronic medical records systems.
Education & Experience:
15. Administrative personnel shall possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development equivalency. Completion of administrative assistant program is desirable.
16. Able to type using a computer keyboard with a minimum of 50 Words per minute is required
17. General office administrative and clerical skills to perform receptionist duties and answer telephones.
18. Standard office equipment, such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems.
19. An understanding of general medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication.
20. Able to read, write, and speak English
21. Able to effectively communicate using a phone.
22. Able to possess government security clearance.
