DESCRIPTION:
Here at Amazon, we are looking to hire an experienced Automation Engineer to join our highly automated and fast-paced Sort Centers.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Automation Engineer (CSS) will fault find, troubleshoot, and improve controls solutions for automated material handling equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, scales, HMI systems, and control cabinets. The CSS will also train Engineering Technicians on device troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

1. Be the site SME for all controls systems and sensors, actively monitoring, fault finding, and repairing systems to ensure high equipment availability.
2. Train technicians in control systems fault finding to enhance site knowledge.
3. Collaborate within the EU Controls network to monitor MHE metrics and provide visualization and data to internal customers.
4. Participate in or lead continuous improvement projects driven by the EU Automation network.
5. Work with IT, EU Automation Engineering, and Operations Engineering to document systems and maintain backup libraries.
6. Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment alongside global teams.
7. Assist other sites within the EU network as needed.

Basic qualifications:

* 3+ years experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment.
* Possession or pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
* Experience supporting various conveyors and sortation systems.
* Proven troubleshooting skills under high pressure.
* Ability to develop improvement strategies for code conforming to IEC 61131-3.
* Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
* Experience with material handling, flow, and capacity visualization and monitoring.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio, and AutoCAD.
* Effective communication skills in English and the local language at CEFR Level B2 or higher.

Preferred qualifications:

* Electrical or mechanical training degree in related fields.
* Understanding of ISO 13849 & 62061 standards.
* Familiarity with CE Machinery Directive.
* Experience in a multi-site environment.
* Project management experience.
* Knowledge of Six Sigma and process improvement techniques.
