Geologist
Location: Leeds
Overview
My client is recruiting for an Engineering Geologist / Senior Engineering Geologist to join a multidisciplinary civil, structural and geotechnical team in Leeds. You will be delivering ground investigation, geotechnical design, reporting and project support across a range of UK projects, with a strong focus on rail.
Responsibilities
* Producing and reviewing interpretative geotechnical reports
* Developing ground models and supporting geotechnical design
* Undertaking earthworks, slope and infrastructure assessments
* Carrying out Preliminary Risk Assessments and Mining Risk Assessments
* Supervising ground investigations and site activities
* Supporting project management, budgets, programmes and technical submissions
* Attending client meetings, technical discussions and site visits
* Mentoring junior geologists and engineers
* Promoting quality, health, safety and environmental compliance
Qualifications
* A degree in Geology or a related discipline
* About 6-8 years of relevant industry experience
* Experience in rail, earthworks inspections and reporting
* Experience producing Geotechnical Interpretative Reports and Mining Risk Assessments
* Ground investigation planning, specification, supervision and reporting experience
* Knowledge of ground models, geotechnical design, UK standards and legislation
* Ability to use geotechnical software and carry out hand calculations
* Strong communication, organisation and client‑facing skills
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site
* Progress towards CGeol or CEng is beneficial (e.g., MSc in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or related field)
