An exciting opportunity has become available within the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) department at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS) to join our team.
Job Description
We are seeking applicants with clinical laboratory experience in H&I to participate in departmental activities. The successful candidate will perform a comprehensive range of analyses, maintain complex analytical equipment, and liaise effectively with service users to ensure optimal patient care. The role requires developing competence to perform procedures autonomously and participating in an on-call service during evenings and weekends.
Candidate Requirements
* Genuine interest in H&I discipline
* Participation in H&I-specific CPD
* Experience with processing specimens for screening, diagnosis, and clinical management
* Manual dexterity for processing pathological specimens and specialised techniques
* Ability to supervise, organise, and train less experienced staff
Additional Information
The post involves operation, maintenance, and calibration of specialised automated equipment, as well as manual techniques such as DNA extraction.
