Technical Instructor Post at Orchard House Day Hospital in Oldham
As a Technical Instructor, you will work alongside Occupational Therapists in a multidisciplinary team supporting older people with mental health issues that significantly impact their quality of life. You will support patients both practically and emotionally, in group settings and individually.
You will help promote good mental health through various group activities for patients with conditions such as Psychosis, Bipolar disorder, Depression, and Anxiety, excluding those with dementia.
Our team includes OT's, Nurses, Technical Instructors, Nursing Assistants, Support Workers, and Administrative Staff.
This is a part-time position – 22.5 hours over three full days, from 8:15 am to 4:15 pm. The service operates Monday to Friday, with no weekend or bank holiday shifts.
Under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering and implementing OT assessments, interventions, treatment programs, group activities, and care plans within a structured OT model, under the guidance of a registered OT, but without direct supervision.
* Working as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* Following the OT Process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation within the OT framework and the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), with regular senior OT supervision.
* Contributing to multidisciplinary and OT assessments that evaluate clinical outcomes.
* Supporting OT interventions for service users with complex needs within the Mental Health Service for Older People.
* Receiving clinical and professional supervision from a Registered OT.
* Participating in a rota to serve lunches and drinks to patients as part of their therapeutic day.
* Carrying out administrative duties as required.
