We help conceive, drive and implement transport solutions for cities, regions and asset owners/operators worldwide. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle and we play a major role in delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.
Overview of the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Underground Structures Business Development Lead to support the business development activities in our Foundations and Geotechnics team (FNG). This role sits within the Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) Division and involves supporting the pursuit of large, complex underground projects across sectors and geographies.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Foundation and Geotechnics Principal Account Leader in delivering the wider BD strategy for Ground Engineering and the Heavy Civils & Infrastructure division.
* Identify and capture the right opportunities in underground structures, building relationships with clients, crafting compelling value propositions and assembling bid teams.
* Work with the Development Team and Client Directors to engage clients meaningfully and maintain a competitive edge.
* Prepare and implement market plans, customer management plans and prospect capture plans.
* Raise the MM Geotechnics profile through enhanced internal and external communications and industry presence.
* Work with the Geotechnics resource manager to define project resource and skill needs.
* Maintain a collaborative delivery approach across project teams, supply chain, partners and client teams.
* Deliver to budget, programme and quality, leading profitable projects that deliver success for our clients and communities.
* Support delivery of the Geotechnics and wider Heavy Civils & Infrastructure business plan objectives.
Candidate Specification
* Extensive experience delivering major design projects in a senior project role.
* Broad knowledge of underground structures design methodologies and construction practices.
* Project, financial, programme and resource management skills.
* Strong experience in design‑and‑build markets and major heavy civil infrastructure projects, with a strong network of contacts.
* Excellent communication skills – able to present succinct messages to different audiences and build rapport.
* Proven business development skills with experience of developing value propositions and writing winning technical and commercial proposals.
* BEng/BSc in civil engineering (or related subject).
* Chartered Engineer (or equivalent).
* Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (or equivalent).
