We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join one of our specialist SEND colleges based in Harrogate. This is a long term role to start after October half term until the end of the academic year. You will be supporting students aged 16-25 with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, physical disabilities and other learning difficulties.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential—both academically and personally. You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to provide tailored support, ensuring learners feel confident, included, safe, and able to succeed.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1-to-1 and small group support to students with diverse learning and support needs
* Promote independence, resilience, and confidence in the classroom and beyond
* Assist with personal care and mobility where required
* Support students with developing social, communication and life skills
* Work collaboratively with staff to adapt resources and approaches to individual needs
* Encourage a positive, safe, and inclusive environment
Requirements
* Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar SEND role is desirable
* A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach
* Understanding of additional needs such as autism, ADHD, and mental health conditions
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
* DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
