The role
Newchurch is an exciting and dynamic place to work that can offer great opportunities. We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, knowledgeable and child-centred Teaching SENCO to join our friendly one form entry primary school and our SEND Team.
This role combines class teaching with leadership of SEND provision, with dedicated release time provided to ensure the SENCO role can be carried out effectively.
Newchurch is a close-knit, nurturing community where children are known as individuals and inclusion sits at the heart of all our practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping high-quality provision for pupils with SEND and supporting staff to meet a diverse range of needs of our delightful children.
The successful candidate will work alongside other members of the SEND Team consisting of the Headteacher, Pastoral Lead and some teaching assistants. They will have high expectations for all learners at Newchurch.
The successful candidate will:
1. Be a qualified teacher with experience in primary education
2. Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination/NPQ SEND (or be willing to work towards it)
3. Have a secure understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
4. Have experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
5. Be an effective communicator, able to work collaboratively with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies
6. Be well organised, reflective and committed to inclusive practice
7. Share our belief that all children can achieve with the right support
