Working with and reporting to the Director of Data (Chief Data Analytics Officer) as a member of the Technology Senior Management team, Aztec Group is seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director of Data Delivery who is responsible for the overall success of the delivery of data-related projects and programs in an agile environment. This includes developing and executing delivery plans, managing resources, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Associate Director of Data Delivery works closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met and that they are satisfied with the delivered data product or service. They will act as the interface between the agile in-house Data Function and Vendors, and the traditional Programme Management office.
Aztec is in the early stages of a significant transformation programme with Data at the heart of the change from a business and client perspective. Following the completion of our Cloud adoption programme and build of new Azure cloud-based data infrastructure we have the foundations of a platform for growth. We have developed and refined a data strategy and a key part of this role will be to deliver on that strategy.
Based out of our Southampton or London offices, remote, flexible working is the norm along with occasional trips to our other offices across the Channels Islands.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop and execute delivery plans for complex data-related projects and programs using agile methodologies within a stage-gate project framework.
* Planning and managing resources and ensure that projects are staffed with the appropriate skills and experience, from both in-house and vender-supplied near-shore teams.
* Estimation and forecasting of cost to deliver outcomes, informing project, programme, and departmental budgets.
* Monitor and track project progress against milestones and deadlines, reporting upwardly to the Programme Management Office.
* Identify and manage risks and escalate issues to senior management as needed.
* Communicate with clients and stakeholders throughout the delivery process.
* Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
* Coach and mentor data teams on agile development methodologies and broader project management frameworks, working closely with the in-house and vender-supplied Scrum Masters.
* Facilitate continuous improvement of data delivery processes.
* Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in data delivery and agile methodologies, specifically within the financial services industry.
* Collaborate with third party vendors to align the priority of initiatives and delivery that are inter-dependent.
* Development and presentation of Business Cases to socialise the benefits and secure funding.
Skills, knowledge, expertise:
* 10+ years of experience in project or program management, preferably in the context of data and analytics.
* Experience in delivering complex data-related projects and programs on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, using agile methodologies.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban
* Experience with financial services industry data management and data engineering tools and technologies.
* Experience with financial services industry data regulations and compliance requirements.
* Experience delivering cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
