Position Overview
The Admissions Coordinator will facilitate and evaluate therapeutic, medical, and financial arrangements of incoming chemically dependent patients and/or family members.
This position is based in Quincy, MA, as a full-time role with the requirement of working every other weekend.
Specific Responsibilities
* Serve as the first point of contact for all incoming phone inquiries regarding admissions.
* Provide telephone and in-person assessments, verify benefits, and make initial contact with referral sources and potential patients.
* Discuss financial options with patients and respond to insurance-related questions.
* Obtain appropriate clinical and demographic information for insurance authorization, including clinical recommendations for level of care and length of stay.
* Schedule tours for prospective patients and their families, and coordinate admissions.
* Maintain communication with potential patients, unit staff, referral sources, and families as appropriate.
* Collaborate with nursing and RSS staff to ensure timely admissions and provide orientation to program aspects for patients post-admission.
* Ensure prompt responses to patient needs.
* Record data and input documentation into the EHR system.
* Collect and analyze data related to departmental performance indicators and provide regular feedback to the Program Director.
* Review and maintain all departmental documents and logs.
* Work with the Program Director to maintain census and participate in marketing or outreach activities as needed.
* Assist counselors and senior staff in crisis intervention as needed.
* Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field, or
* Associate’s Degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or
* High School diploma with at least 2 years in a similar position.
Experience working in substance abuse admissions is strongly preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA policies and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential.
