Overview
We are working with a Tier 1 contractor based near Reading to recruit a Building Services/Technical Manager. The company is a national brand with an excellent reputation in their chosen marketplace and strong long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider supply chain. The regional office is near Slough, covering the M4 Corridor, Thames Valley and Oxfordshire, targeting work in education, public sector, retail, leisure and commercial marketplaces on negotiated and framework opportunities. Turnover for 2025 and 2026 is secured. Current live projects include new build Higher Education, Primary Schools, Leisure and Retail developments, local authority schemes and NHS projects, won on a 2-stage process through frameworks such as SCF, Pagabo and DFE with values from £20 to £90 million.
The role is to take full responsibility for the services packages across a range of projects. You will be involved with the bid and estimating teams at pre-construction to assess feasibility, programme timelines and buildability. You will collaborate with the design and commercial teams and subcontractors to establish best practice, pricing and procedures to support successful project delivery. Upon contract award you will work with the wider site delivery team to oversee services packages on site and manage subcontractors through the install process, handling technical queries through commissioning and handover. The role would ideally suit someone from a main contractor or specialist subcontractor with experience of mechanical and electrical services; experience in pre-construction and delivery is advantageous. A degree is preferable, but they are open to individuals who have progressed through the ranks off the tools.
Responsibilities
* Take full responsibility for the services packages across multiple projects.
* Collaborate with bid and estimating teams during pre-construction to evaluate feasibility, programme durations and buildability.
* Work with design, commercial teams and subcontractors to establish best practice, pricing and procedures for schemes.
* On contract award, lead on-site management of services packages and supervise subcontractors through installation, commissioning and handover.
* Ensure technical queries are resolved and contribute to successful delivery of the wider project.
* Contribute to cradle-to-grave project delivery from planning through to handover.
Qualifications
* Experience of mechanical and electrical services in a main contractor or specialist subcontractor environment.
* Experience in pre-construction and delivery is advantageous.
* Degree qualified is preferable, but candidates who have progressed through the tools will be considered.
