Specialist SEN Teacher - KS3 Literacy Intervention
Start Date: September 2025
Location: South London (Secondary School, Ofsted Outstanding)
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: Competitive (Inner London Pay Scale)

TimePlan Education is currently working in partnership with a high-achieving, Ofsted Outstanding secondary school in South London to appoint a passionate, skilled, and dedicated Specialist SEN Teacher for a September 2025 start.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-performing, inclusive school with a strong ethos of achievement and support for all students. You will be responsible and accountable for delivering and monitoring effective KS3 Literacy intervention programmes, including Phonics, Lexia, and Hackney Literature, with a particular focus on raising achievement for SEN, EAL, and underachieving groups across the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and deliver high-impact literacy intervention lessons at KS3 level.
* Implement and monitor targeted programmes (Lexia, Hackney Literature, Phonics).
* Track and support the progress of students on the SEND register.
* Work closely with the SENCO and wider inclusion team to raise attainment.
* Contribute to whole-school strategies for literacy and SEN support.
* Liaise with external professionals (e.g., SALTs, OTs) and integrate their guidance into teaching plans.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Proven experience delivering SEN and literacy interventions in a secondary setting.
* Strong understanding of the cognitive, communication, and behavioural needs of students with ASD, SLCN, and other SEN profiles.
* Experience with a range of intervention strategies, including speech and language approaches.
* A good working knowledge of current SEN legislation and health & safety practices.
* The ability to inspire, challenge and motivate students with a wide range of needs.
* A collaborative mindset, committed to contributing to a successful, supportive team.
