We are recruiting a Senior Technical Manager to join our Southwest and Wales Leadership team, leading the regional technical team to ensure maximum performance by executing the technical strategy aligned with all HSEQ requirements. This key role will develop and implement short and long-term strategies aligned with Tarmac and CRH values. The successful candidate can be based at Tarmac Stancombe, nr Bristol, or Tarmac Hendy, Pontyclun, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The role is easily commutable from Nailsea, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Chepstow, Newport, Cardiff, Gloucester, Penarth, Barry, Bridgend, Port Talbot, Maesteg, Merthyr Tydfil, Cwmbran, and surrounding areas.

Role Responsibilities
1. Reporting directly to the Regional Managing Director, the Senior Technical Manager will lead the regional technical team to achieve zero harm through adherence to safety standards and continuous improvement of practices, including wellbeing.
2. Ensure delivery and exceedance of performance targets and develop the regions short and long-term operational plans.
3. Lead the technical team to execute the technical strategy and optimize priorities.
4. Align technical operations with business sustainability strategies.
5. Work with operations to optimize the use of Recycled Asphalt Planings (RAP).
6. Identify quality issues and implement corrective actions.
7. Support the Regional Pave business with effective contract bids and alternative pavement solutions.
8. Manage contracting technical requirements and utilize subcontract technical resources effectively.
9. Develop a robust, diverse, and inclusive succession plan through coaching and leadership.
10. Engage clients to promote our solutions range.
11. Assist operational teams in managing stock and mineral-related issues.
12. Build relationships with clients, engineers, industry colleagues, and government to position Tarmac as a market leader.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in aggregate and asphalt technical roles, with excellent knowledge of legislation, test methods, and standards for aggregates and asphalt. They will possess a deep understanding of production processes and techniques.
