Overview
GAIN Coordinator - South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) role at Avon and Somerset Police. The SWROCU is looking for a GAIN Coordinator to progress their career as part of our Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU).
Responsibilities
* Work with local Forces to understand their processes for tackling Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) and regularly engage with appropriate departments.
* Identify opportunities for partnership working, including use of the GAIN referral process.
* Develop local contacts within the relevant agencies which operate at a regional and local level to create an environment where government agencies can lawfully share intelligence.
* Work with partner agencies to help them map their SOC to build a more complete picture.
* Play an active role in the network of GAIN Coordinators, supporting the National GAIN Coordinator and other Regional colleagues to ensure connectivity and consistency across the ROCUs.
* Support SWROCU as a collaboration of police officers and police staff from the five South West regional forces; part of a national network of nine ROCUs.
* Contribute to capabilities that staff and officers work in to pursue offenders, protect and prepare individuals and organisations, and prevent people from engaging in SOC.
* Collaborate with local forces and national partners to target and disrupt criminals posing the greatest risk of SOC, including cyber threats, economic crime, drug conspiracies, modern slavery and human trafficking, and child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Experience at a senior level within law enforcement / government or multi-agency capacity.
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and a high standard of computer literacy.
* Comprehensive knowledge of legislation, national standards and good practice on covert intelligence, evidenced by relevant experience.
* Experience in high level problem solving with police and partner agencies and understanding the aims and objectives of partner agencies.
* Significant experience at a strategic level in a multi-agency environment, with ability to influence and persuade stakeholders and meet deadlines; able to work in a team or on own initiative.
* Full current driving licence and ability to travel across the Region; willingness to travel for events, including overnight stays when required.
* Occasional travel to events across the UK; overnight stays may be required.
