Interim Regional General Counsel – EMEA
6‑month assignment | April/May 2026 start | London preferred (hybrid)
Our client is seeking a senior interim EMEA Regional General Counsel to step into a high‑impact leadership role. This is a fast‑paced, business‑critical assignment, with the incoming consultant ideally needing to provide stability and senior legal leadership while a permanent search is underway (expected 3–6 months).
Role Overview
* Act as Regional GC for EMEA, serving as the senior legal business partner to EMEA leadership.
* Report directly into the US General Counsel (based in the US)
* Operate as a hands‑on, commercially minded legal leader—a true right hand to regional leadership.
* Scope is entirely EMEA‑focused, covering Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic legal leadership across the EMEA region, embedding within the regional leadership team.
* Support and oversee complex commercial, operational, and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
* Bring calm, structure, and stability to a fast‑growing, complex business environment.
* Manage and support existing in‑region lawyers.
* Balance ~70% in‑house advisory work with ~30% external counsel management.
* Act as a senior business partner, participating in leadership meetings and key decision‑making forums.
Candidate Profile
* Very senior in‑house lawyer (ex‑hands‑on GC or Deputy GC level a minimum).
* Strong petrochemicals / industrial manufacturing background essential (e.g. industrial lubricants, motor oil, grease, or similar sectors).
* Proven experience operating at regional GC level across EMEA.
* Highly commercial, pragmatic, and comfortable in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments.
* Confident engaging with senior stakeholders across multiple cultures and geographies.
* Style: approachable, credible, and trusted by the business.
