Production Planner

Overview
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating and optimizing our production schedules to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of products. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
Key Accountabilities
Production Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules to meet customer orders, forecasted demand, and inventory targets. Ensure schedules are realistic and achievable.
Process Monitoring: Continuously monitor production processes, identifying and addressing any issues or bottlenecks that may arise. Adjust schedules as necessary to minimize downtime and ensure timely delivery.
Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, inventory management, production, and quality control teams to ensure the availability of materials, resources, and information needed for production.
Data Analysis: Analyze production data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and recommendations.
Quality Assurance: Coordinate with the quality control team to ensure that all products meet established quality standards and specifications. Address any quality issues promptly to prevent disruptions.
Reporting: Prepare and present detailed production reports to management, highlighting key metrics, production status, and any issues or risks. Provide actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
Software Utilization: Implement and maintain production planning software and tools, ensuring they are used effectively to streamline planning processes and improve accuracy.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing process efficiency, reducing waste, and optimizing resource utilization.
Compliance: Ensure all planning activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience
Education: APICS certification or similar qualification in Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Production Planning or a similar role.
Skills:
Strong understanding of production planning and inventory management principles.
Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams
Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and demands.

About Our Project In Port Of Nigg, Highland
Sumitomo Electric is one of the leading global manufacturers of state-of-the-art high-end electricity transmission
cables, up to and including 525kV HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) cable.
The new factory at Nigg, with investment value announced by the Scottish Government of £350M, will make a
significant contribution towards realisation of the UK Net Zero Target by contributing to critical electricity transmission
infrastructure to connect and deliver renewable energy, including offshore wind, to UK consumers and beyond.
In addition, the factory will create more than 150 highly skilled jobs in the Scottish Highlands, with maximum
utilisation of the local supply chain for production of cables and construction of transmission cable systems.
In a significant boost for the UK green energy supply chain, Sumitomo Electric has commenced construction
of its state-of-the-art subsea transmission cable factory in the Scottish Highlands.
The factory will supply critical elements for the reinforcement of the UK electricity transmission grid and for
connecting renewable energy production facilities to the grid.
