Job Title: Family Assessment Support Worker

Hours: Full time = 40hrs (5 x 8hrs shifts) Part time is 32hrs (4 shifts) or 24hrs (3 shifts)

Work pattern: Range of shifts / sleep in's / alternate weekends

Pay: £25,480 per annum + £60 for sleep in's.

Location: Kings Heath, Birmingham

Our Parenting Assessments are individually tailored according to the needs of the family, with a focus upon 'the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families' and the parents' ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of their child. The wellbeing of the children is our primary focus, ensuring that the baby or child's needs are met at all times.

The purpose of the Family Assessment Worker role:

1. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.

2. To work as part of a team in assessing parenting capabilities.

3. To work as part of a team supporting parents to develop their independent living skills.

4. To contribute to the programme of work and undertake sessions with parents as required, under the direction of the Social Work Assessor.

5. To maintain detailed electronic records of observations, and work undertaken, and contribute to review reports.

6. To liaise with other professionals and agencies as required.

7. To ensure that the Residential Family Centre regulations and National Minimum Standards and organisational policies and procedures are implemented.

We are looking for:

* Resilient, self-motivated staff who believe they are able to contribute to undertaking objective parenting assessments based on detailed observations of children and their families, within a residential setting, and to be able to maintain accurate and detailed records of observations;
* Ideally have Level 3 Children and Young People's Workforce Diploma or equivalent; or be willing to undertake this qualification.
* Ideally have 2 years' experience of working with parents and children, or the ability to demonstrate transferable skills, knowledge and experience;
* The role is subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS check and references.
* To be able to observe, assess, advise, teach and support parents, helping them to build on parenting skills.
* Have a kind, caring, empathetic personality, with excellent communication and literacy skills.
* Candidates must have a good working knowledge of safeguarding.
* Own car insured for business use, which is suitable for transporting parents and children; clean driving licence.
* An ability to work according to a varied (including 8am-4pm, 10am-6pm, 2.30pm-10.30pm and sleep in's).
