Technician: Art & Design (3D Skills Focus)

Job description

* West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds
* 28 hours per week, 52 weeks per year - Permanent
* Commencing February 2026
* Salary: £ 24,570 - £ 25,401 per annum (Dependent on qualifications and experience)
* Actual Salary: £18,593 - £19,222 per annum

We are seeking a creative and proactive Technician - Art and Design with a focus on 3D skills to join our dynamic team, supporting staff and students across a range of art and design courses. You will play a key role in maintaining and developing our 3D workshops and studios, ensuring they remain safe, inspiring, and fully equipped environments for innovative learning and production.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in 3D design and making, with hands-on experience in working with materials such as wood, metal, and plastics. You will support classes, workshops, and directed study sessions, assisting students in the production of 2D and 3D art and design projects. Your role will also include managing workshop materials and equipment, maintaining health and safety standards, and contributing to the preparation of exhibitions, events, and shows that showcase the creativity of our learners.

We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with creativity, reliability, and excellent communication skills. A relevant degree is essential, and experience with digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, laser cutters, and 3D printers is highly desirable. You will be part of a collaborative Art & Design technician team within the Eastern Education Group, supporting not only your own department but also group-wide initiatives that drive innovation and excellence across the creative disciplines.
