Volunteer Trustee | Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome
Looking for a new opportunity as a charity Trustee? Come and help us grow and be part of our story.
What difference will you make?
The Board of Trustees are volunteers who form the strategic management body for the Charity, overseeing sound financial management and accountability and maintaining high standards of governance and integrity. By becoming a Trustee you will be joining a heritage museum with big plans for the future and be part of the story of ordinary people who did extraordinary things.
What are we looking for?
The Charity is seeking to appoint a number of new Trustees to join our friendly and committed Board and help us in our strategic goal to attract more visitors to experience this special site and secure a future for the Charity. We are keen to hear from individuals from all backgrounds who are able to contribute to this goal, and in particular with experience in business operations, finance, fundraising and income generation, human resources or marketing, PR and sponsorship. Knowledge of the heritage sector is not a requirement and all new Trustees receive a supported induction.
What will you be doing?
Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is Europe’s largest surviving First World War aerodrome situated in the beautiful Essex countryside between Chelmsford and Maldon. Stow Maries is not all about war. It is a working aerodrome, a heritage museum, a wildlife site and, above all, a place to enjoy and learn about this important period in our country’s history. It is a unique place with a unique history. It tells the story of ordinary people who did extraordinary things. We want to attract more visitors to experience this special site and secure a future for the Charity. We are therefore seeking to appoint a number of new Trustees to join our friendly and committed Board, and in particular individuals with experience in business operations, finance, fundraising and income generation, human resources or marketing, PR and sponsorship. Our Trustees need to be able to make adequate time available for the role as it is sometimes hands-on, adding an additional dimension to the valuable contribution they are able to make. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds. Previous knowledge and experience of the heritage sector is not a requirement and all new Trustees receive a supported induction.
