Senior Health Care Support Worker - POPD

We are looking to recruit Senior Health Care Support Workers.
We are looking for motivated and caring Healthcare Support Workers to join a dedicated Paediatric Team in our Paediatric Outpatient department.
We are looking for enthusiasm, drive, and passion where the delivery of outstanding levels of care can be nurtured.
You will have excellent communication skills and the flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of Children and their Families whilst maintaining a safe environment.
You will be motivated and committed to delivering high quality care to patients in a busy and fast paced area.
You will work as part of a team to provide high quality, safe and child centred care.
The successful candidate will be efficient, reliable, and able to work using their own initiative whilst being part of a team. You will be dedicated to assisting in the delivery and the development of an excellent service.
The successful candidate will be required to work over 6 sites within the Wigan and Leigh area.
To undertake this post, you must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle. Should you not meet this requirement due to a disability, you are of course able to apply and a discussion regarding whether reasonable adjustments could be made to the role would take place before any offer is confirmed.
Responsibilities
1. Assisting patients with the provision of washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals.
2. Assisting qualified nursing and medical staff where requested.
3. Communicating with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision.
4. Ensuring that all patients are able to meet their hygiene needs, providing a level of assistance appropriate to the individual.
5. Preparing and supporting the patient appropriately during any activity that is to be undertaken.
6. Alerting the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient’s health and well-being or any possible risks.
7. Undertaking observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, fluid checks as directed.
8. Ensuring effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.
9. Assisting with the general cleaning and re-stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients beds.
10. Contributing to own personal development and taking an active part in learning opportunities.
11. Undertaking phlebotomy on children of a variety of ages, with appropriate training.
12. Contributing in the role of QB tester on a rotational basis.

Qualifications
* Effective level of numeracy and literacy skills
* Effective communication skills - written and verbal
* NVQ 2 Level 2 in Health and Social Care

* Ability to deal with people from all backgrounds
