Pastoral Co-ordinator
Location: Witham, Essex Start Date: End of May 2026 Contract: Temporary (until 17 July 2026) Hours: 37 hours per week, term time
seeking a committed and compassionate Pastoral Co-ordinator to join our team on a temporary basis. This is a vital role supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement of students, ensuring that every young person feels safe, valued, and able to succeed.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Head of Year, you will take a proactive role in delivering outstanding pastoral care, promoting high standards of behaviour and attendance, and supporting students to thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
Student Welfare & Pastoral Care
* Provide high-quality pastoral support to students across a designated year group
* Identify and support students facing personal or social challenges
* Act as a key worker for vulnerable students, including those with SEND, EHCPs, or safeguarding concerns
* Promote a caring, inclusive, and supportive school environment
Behaviour & Attendance
* Support the implementation of behaviour and attendance policies
* Work with staff to promote positive behaviour across the school
* Monitor behaviour trends and implement targeted intervention plans
* Respond to and de-escalate incidents as part of the behaviour response team
* Support suspension processes and student reintegration
* Work with the Attendance Officer to improve attendance and reduce truancy
Data & Systems
* Maintain accurate pastoral and behaviour records on the school MIS
* Monitor and analyse data to identify trends and inform interventions
* Produce reports for senior leaders on pastoral outcomes and improvements
Working with Stakeholders
* Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff
* Lead meetings with parents/carers to support student outcomes
* Liaise with external agencies such as social services and health professionals
* Represent the school at multi-agency meetings when required
What We Are Looking For
Essential
* GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above)
* Experience supporting young people and promoting high expectations
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to manage behaviour calmly and effectively
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
* Ability to analyse data and implement targeted support
Desirable
* Previous experience in a school or educational setting
* A Levels, degree, or equivalent qualifications
* Experience working with external agencies
* Knowledge of attendance or exclusion processes
* Experience supporting students with SEMH needs
