About Us
Northgate is a vibrant, multi-cultural primary school situated very close to Crawley town centre. We are growing and currently have 550 children on roll including a maintained Nursery and Specialist Support Centre (SSC). The SSC is led by two Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and a team of specialist support assistants. In the SSC we currently have 15 Deaf who are all part of a mainstream class. We support primarily in the classroom and offer additional support in the SSC as required.

Salary:West Sussex Grade 6 plus Crawley weighting
£2627,254 – £28,598 pro rata
Contract type:permanent,
Working hours:
* Up to 32.75 hours per week
* Full time post-flexible working/job share considered.
* Term time only from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

What You Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role you will need to:
* We are seeking to appoint a Special Support Assistant, who has high expectations for Deaf children and committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential in school.
* An understanding that Deaf children can communicate in different ways. Some of our pupils use speech as their main form of communication, whilst others use British Sign Language.
* Therefore, the ideal candidate should be working at level 2 BSL or have level 1 and an active interest in working towards level 2 BSL. Applicants will also need to be competent in English and mathematics, and to share our commitment to ensuring
* Previous experience of working in a similar position is desirable but not essential and relevant training will be offered to the right candidate.
