We are seeking a Senior Paralegal to support our growing Banking and R&I team with its core practice development and professional support activities. The role will report in to a Senior Knowledge Lawyer and so will be fully supported.
We are a close-knit friendly team looking for a Knowledge Paralegal who can be flexible, work well in a team, be self-sufficient and proactive, and actively project manage their own deliverables.
The role is a full time, permanent contract based in our Bristol office, with provision for home working.
The main purpose of this role is to provide essential support to the Banking and R&I team’s two Senior Knowledge Lawyers and to its clients. The role will include monitoring legal updates on behalf of knowledge lawyers, assisting with the preparation and administration of legal training for our lawyers and for our clients, drafting client-facing publications and short legal summaries to be used on blogs and other forms of thought-leadership, assisting with editing and maintaining template documents (including precedents and guidance notes), monitoring market practice in particular areas, assisting fee earners (under the instruction of a Knowledge lawyer) on research for knowledge-based queries and providing support with the maintenance of internal knowledge systems, such as our information database and intranet sites.
Your Role
The role involves, but is not limited to:
Providing support with horizon scanning and legal updates including:
* Preparing summaries of legal developments under the supervision of knowledge lawyers for internal and client facing legal updates;
* Drafting of precedents;
* Monitoring case and legal updates and updating internal blogs and horizon scanning reports;
* Proofreading internal and external documents;
* Monitoring market practice/developments in specified areas;
* Managing internal knowledge systems including maintaining team [TD1] intranet pages, managing collections of know how on the firm’s knowledge management system and updating internal blogs;
* Assisting with the administration of knowledge products and publications. including
Providing support with legal and technical drafting projects including:
* Assisting with drafting and amending template and precedent documents, practice notes and checklists.
* Writing short summaries of legal and regulatory developments for knowledge products;
* Assisting with preparation of regular internal knowledge updates;
* Preparing and editing client articles and content;
* Working under the instruction of a Knowledge Lawyer and with our FutureLaw team to make updates to automated precedents and to put further automation in place.
Providing support with arranging client and internal training including:
* Preparing PowerPoint slide decks on instruction from the Knowledge Lawyers or other fee earner in the team;
* Liaising with client contacts and external speakers to arrange dates and times for training;
* Keeping minutes of meetings and training sessions where required;
* Assisting with training administration including managing the internal training calendar, managing training recordings and attendance records, and keeping client specific training extranets updated.
Providing additional support to the senior knowledge team including:
* Minor project management tasks (supervised by knowledge lawyers);
* Other duties as reasonably requested.

Education/training/experience and qualities:
* Law graduate with good research skills (essential);
* Some previous legal / paralegal experience desirable (but not essential);
* Some previous administrative experience desirable (but not essential);

* Strong attention to detail (essential);
* Ability to work independently and manage own projects and deadlines (essential);
* Sound IT skills, including good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel (SharePoint an advantage but training can be given)
