Overview
Occupational Therapy Practitioner opportunity based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. This hospital setting provides a specialist inpatient service for adults and older age males with severe and enduring mental health conditions, and may include a memory-related illness. There is a specialist neurocognitive and dementia care service for males presenting with agitated or aggressive behaviour. To be considered for this position you must hold a degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the HCPC.
Responsibilities
* Work across rehabilitation and recovery wards with the support of two OTAs.
* Apply OT assessments and interventions one-to-one with patients and lead group work.
* Support patients to engage in the therapeutic programme delivered in conjunction with psychology and nursing colleagues.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to identify patients’ occupational needs.
* Observe and monitor patients’ wellbeing; promptly refer any unusual physical, mental, or emotional occurrences to senior staff and document appropriately.
* Ensure effective, timely, and accurate updating of clinical records and computerised information systems.
Requirements
* Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
* Experience in inpatient mental health services or similar settings is desirable.
* Experience in line management and supervising junior colleagues is desirable but not essential.
* Good understanding of meaningful occupations and the value of engagement in therapeutic activities.
* Compassion, enthusiasm, creativity and a proactive approach.
