The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2), you’ll bring high-level clinical knowledge and skill to a multidisciplinary team, delivering complex mental health assessments, nursing treatments, and coordinated referrals in line with current guidelines and best practice standards. Your specialist insight into psychosocial interventions, evidence-based care, and the referral process will be instrumental in supporting consumers through their recovery journey. Based within the Triage and Assessment Centre, this role is central to providing timely, effective, and compassionate care that achieves meaningful outcomes for individuals, families, and carers. What you will bring to the role Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and current Driver's License and willingness to use for work purpose travel Post-registration qualifications in Mental Health Nursing with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience working in a Mental Health specialty area, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. An understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health and the ability to implement those within clinical practice utilising their clinical expertise with the ability to work independently. Commitment to champion, educate and lead a multidisciplinary team to improve consumer outcomes as part of a team Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, carers and a diverse range of health care providers Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities according to best practice Demonstrated commitment to clinical practice development Ability to work independently with minimal supervision maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
